Underneath the cork.

Tight, densely packed aromas, the kind you want to bury your nose in. We're talking: dark cherries, hibiscus, mints and marjoram. Once the glass has moved from the nose to the lips, it's cherries, cherries and more cherries. And, perhaps, if you're wildly receptive, notes of black raspberry and white-pepper spice. Drink it alone. Drink it with someone. Or, drink it with Pad Thai, Green Curry, Drunken Noodles; anything Asian, anything spicy.

“Buoyant aromas of raspberry, white pepper, rose, dried sage, loamy soil and roasted meat make for a layered and dynamic entry to this hearty wine. There is plenty of depth on the palate as well, from black raspberry and plum flavors to salumi and Turkish delight.”
- 93 points, Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast

“Lurid ruby. Fresh black raspberry, cherry and floral qualities on the nose, along with an exotic touch of incense. Broad and fleshy in the mouth, offering oak-tinged cherry-vanilla, red berry preserve and spicecake flavors that show vibrant back-end lift. Rounded, even tannins frame the long, smooth finish, which emphatically repeats the red fruit and floral notes.”

An Ode to Our Grenache

"It was like clockwork. As soon as those clumsy June bugs took to the skies, bumbling and stumbling their way through the warm California air as if they had spent the spring drinking themselves silly, my mother would hand me a beat-to-hell wicker basket, send me out the backdoor with enough water to hydrate a horse and a sack lunch; and she'd tell me not to come home until the basket was full. I'd head down the road to this great sweeping cherry tree so damn pretty the cars would stop when they'd pass by and I'd hole myself up in that tree with my wicker basket and I'd start picking. I always came home with a full-basket and my sack lunch untouched, for every third or fourth cherry I'd pluck from that tree would end up in my mouth. My mother would take these cherries, rip off their stems, gouge out their pits and drop them into a vat of boiling water that would soften them. She'd then toss the cherries into a big cheese cloth, tie the cheese cloth taut, and spin it, around and around, until the cherries were so crammed their juices would flood and rain out of the fibers into that same vat, now emptied of its hot churning waters. In the days that followed, my mother's hands would be stained this bright red hue, as if the sun was falling asleep right there in her palms into a blazing, strawberry sunset. This Grenache drinks like that distant summer memory: picking cherries, picking cherries, picking cherries..."
