• Verdad & Lindquist Family Wines: Bob Lindquist helped put the Central Coast on the map as one of the first winemakers in California to champion Rhône varietals and organic farming, beginning with his founding of Qupé in 1982.
• Talley Vineyards: Brian Talley represents the third generation of a farming family that transitioned into winemaking in the 1980s, helping to establish Edna Valley as a premier region for estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
• Sinor-LaVallee: Mike Sinor began his winemaking career in the early 1990s and became known for his deep commitment to expressing coastal terroir; he and his wife Cheri founded Sinor-LaVallee in 1997 near Avila Beach.
• Stephen Ross Wine Cellars: Stephen Dooley started his Central Coast winemaking journey in 1987, and founded Stephen Ross Wine Cellars in 1994, bringing decades of cool-climate expertise to his Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
• Saucelito Canyon Vineyard: Bill Greenough revived SLO County’s oldest Zinfandel vineyard—planted in 1880—by hand with a pick and shovel in the 1970s, preserving a piece of local history and pioneering dry-farmed winemaking in the area.
• Wolff Vineyards: Dr. Jean-Pierre Wolff purchased the historic Byron Winery vineyard in 1999 and transitioned it to sustainable farming, helping establish Edna Valley’s reputation for Chardonnay and Petite Sirah.

SLO Coast AVA

• Best for: Cool-climate white wines & aromatic reds
• The newest AVA in the region (established in 2022), SLO Coast stretches from San Simeon to Nipomo and includes both Edna Valley and Arroyo Grande Valley.
• Vineyards here sit closer to the ocean than anywhere else in California, leading to some of the most distinctive coastal wines in the state.
